An orphan at ten years old Aaminah found herself on the streets of India. Kidnapped and trafficked to the UK, little Aaminah was kept as a servant, cleaning, cooking and meeting her masters every demand.
For 8 years she was held in captivity with no bed to sleep in and very little to eat and drink.
“I never thought the day would come that I would get out, I felt like the only way out was to die. I had been held in what was my prison.”
At 18, Aaminah came to City Hearts Safe House after being rescued.
“At City Hearts they cared and they looked after me. I had no one in my life, no one to call family. I didn’t know people could help, I didn’t know people cared, I didn’t know laughter before. At City Hearts I experienced joy, family and friends”.
